There’s more to owning a dog than having a sweet devoted friend. Dogs are wonderful animals but it is your responsibility to train and care for them. This four week class, taught by local veterinarian Dr. Victoria Dye, will cover a variety of subjects for the dog owner. We’ll start with basic health care, what vaccines are appropriate, parasite control, neutering and senior care. Next we’ll address nutrition. Obesity is a huge problem in veterinary medicine today. We’ll look at what diets are good, how much to feed and how a dogs nutritional requirements change based on breed and age. Behavior is our next subject. How does the dog think? Learn that a trained dog makes everyone’s life easier and gives your pet quality of life. Basic techniques on nail trims, cleaning ears and brushing teeth are demonstrated. Finally we’ll look at common diseases, household poisons and basic first aid. Handouts are provided as well as reliable websites for further education. |
