Want to go beyond your camera's "Auto" setting? In this class (for anyone with a point and shoot digital camera or a digital SLR), learn how to control the three main factors that affect the exposure of your images: how fast your camera's shutter opens/closes ('shutter speed'), how large or small the lens opens to let light hit your camera's sensor ('aperture'), and how sensitive your camera is to the light that is available ('ISO'). Students will spend the first session exploring this "photographic triangle" by examining a collection of images and seeing the results of changing any one setting, as well as by engaging in hands-on practice with their own cameras. Class fee includes Bryan Peterson's book, "Understanding Exposure" to help reinforce these principles. Another meeting with more controlled practice with the "photographic triangle" will be followed by a class meeting at an agreed upon destination for 'in the field' practice and experimentation. During our final session participants will share their images and discuss how they controlled the "photographic triangle" to create them. *Oct. 6th class (only) begins at 7:15 pm due to parent/teacher conferences. **Bring camera, memory card, and camera manual to first class. **Deadline to register is Sept. 28.
