This course is an introduction to wheel-thrown ceramics. The course will focus on the properties and preparation of clay, developing skills and techniques on the potter's wheel, principles of ceramic form and design, and the possibilities for decoration and glazing. In addition, this course will stress the production of functional ware such as bowls, cups, etc. Strong manual dexterity skills and previous art class experience is helpful, but not required. Class size is limited to 12 students and fills up quickly. A $30 material fee for beginning student is due the instructor the first night. Returning students will have a material fee of $60 due to volume and size of projects. No Discounts.
